FAQ
![]() Do I have to be naked?
A good thing to remember about getting a message is that it is all about you and your comfort! Your experience will be tailored to suit your needs and preferences. When considering your clothing, you can rest assured knowing that you can do whatever makes you feel most at ease. You can undress fully, or only to the level that you are comfortable. Typically a client will disrobe or wear loose fitting clothing. After undressing to the level that you prefer, you would then lie on the massage table, and cover yourself with a sheet that will be provided. Some types of massages are also administered while fully clothed and sitting in a chair. Discuss with your massage therapist your goals for your appointment. He or she will then be able to help you decide what is needed and how to make you feel most secure and get the most out of your massage appointment. How long will it take? A massage and spa treatment will vary greatly in length depending on your needs and preferences. A massage session can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as 90 minutes, so you should call or come into to your local massage business and decide what would best suit your needs and your goals for the appointment. |

Will it hurt?
A massage should not hurt. An experienced and certified massage therapist will take care that no injury or pain occurs. They know that for healing, comfort and relaxation, firmness and some strength of pressure may be required, but never to the point of pain. Your massage therapist will do a gentle evaluation to detect any painful or sensitive areas, in order to better judge the amount of pressure to employ. Good communication is key, and you can indicate a desire for a lighter touch, or firmer pressure at any time. Depending on the type of massage and the needs of the client, there may be times when a sensitive muscle requires extra attention. It may feel like your massage therapist is “working out a knot”. This may be uncomfortable temporally but will have amazing results! There should not be any irritation or discomfort involved in the friction on your skin. Your massage therapist will likely use oil or lotion to avoid this. Be sure and inform them before beginning your massage, if you know of any allergies you might have to common ingredients in these products. At the end of a massage treatment at Idaho Massage and Spa, you will feel relaxed and tranquil.
How much will it cost?
At our local massage and spa facility, we have something to suit every price point requirement. Our massage appointments vary in length and the cost will vary accordingly. Many appointments start around $70 to $80, although some specialty massages could cost more. For example, premium deep tissue massage, aromatherapy massage, or a hot stone massage may require extra product, effort, or time and therefore may include an additional fee. You may also be wondering about tips. A 15% to 20% tip is customary, but not required. Another important cost consideration is that as massage therapy has entered the mainstream health arena, many health insurance companies will cover part, if not all of the cost of therapeutic massage. Consult your doctor and check with your insurance company to determine the parameters of your particular health insurance policy. Finally, be sure to contact our premium massage and spa facility to find out specific details and to discover any special discounts, introductory specials, or promotions that may be currently available!
How many appointments will I need?
To determine how many visits you should make to your local massage therapist, you must first decide what your goals are for the treatment. A single massage makes a fantastic gift for a romantic partner, friend or colleague. We all experience times where we simply need a boost, deserve some pampering, or require a bit of extra comfort or relaxation. A massage is a wonderful answer for those times as well, and appointments can be made as desired or needed.
If however, you are experiencing any recurring or current issues with pain management, stress management, sleep difficulties, injury or trauma rehabilitation, or mood disorders, regular massage appointments once or twice a week, or bi-monthly may be in order.
Upon discovering the many therapeutic benefits of massage, many people decide to make regular massages part of their weekly or monthly self care plan. Prioritizing your own health and taking care of yourself in mind and body will yield marvelous results in every area of your life.
